TEC Theme Verse

“By our baptism, then, we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from death by the glorious power of the Father, so also we might live a new life. – Romans 6:4

Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) is a three day spiritual retreat weekend focused around the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Teens Encounter Christ is based in the Lutheran tradition; however, all baptized youth and adults are welcome to participate. The retreat is three days long with each day centering on different events leading up to the Cross, into the Empty Tomb, and out into the World.

Die Day Theme Verse

“Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain” – John 12:24a

On Die Day (Saturday) guests focus on the stories of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Die Day seeks to utilize confession and forgiveness to emphasize the importance of being renewed daily in our baptism.

Rise Day Theme Verse

“but if it dies, it bears much fruit” – John 12:24b

On Rise Day (Sunday), guests celebrate the miracle of the resurrection. Guests remember that through our baptisms we are reborn in Christ. Guests are reminded of the unmerited grace which we receive from God through Christ’s death and resurrection.

Go Day Theme Verse

“As the Father sent me, so I send you.” – John 20:21

On Go Day (Monday), guests prepare to go into the world. They discern how they can continue to be involved in their own churches, youth groups, and campus ministries. They will seek to understand how they are called to carry the Gospel into the world in light of the salvation provided through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
